Most people underestimate what a mechanical bull needs — and then find out on party day. Here are the real numbers so you can measure your space and check your outlets before you book.
How Much Space Do You Need?
Our Galaxy bull needs an operating footprint of 20 ft × 20 ft with 10 ft of overhead clearance. The 16-foot inflatable cushion surrounds the bull on every side, and the ground under it has to be flat and reasonably level so the bed sits true.
That 10-foot headroom number is what rules out most Treasure Coast spots people first suggest. Screened lanais, patio covers, low palm fronds, oak limbs, and overhead service lines all take a location out of play even when the ground space looks perfect. Give us your address and where you’re picturing it, and we’ll tell you before your deposit whether it works or whether the driveway is the better call.
Power: The Part Everyone Forgets
This is the single most common reason a mechanical bull setup runs into trouble, so read this part twice. A mechanical bull needs power in two places at once:
- The inflatable safety cushion — a 1.5hp blower runs continuously the entire time the bull is in use. If the blower stops, the bed deflates, and the ride stops.
- The motion base and control console — the drive motor and the operator’s console that controls speed, spin, and the emergency stops.
The system runs on standard 110v single phase and draws 10–16 amps. What that means practically: we need two separate household circuits within about 100 feet — not two outlets on the same circuit, which is what most garages and patios actually are. Two outlets sharing one breaker will trip it mid-ride.
If you’re not sure what’s on which breaker, don’t guess and don’t stress about it — just tell us when you book and we’ll sort it out on site or bring a generator.
Indoor vs. Outdoor Setup
We set up on grass, asphalt, concrete, and indoors — gym floors, banquet halls, and community centers included. Anchoring changes with the surface: stakes on grass, weighted sandbags on hard surfaces. We arrive with both, so it’s not something you need to think about.
For indoor venues, the 10-foot ceiling height is the thing to verify first, along with door and hallway access wide enough to roll the motion base through. Most Treasure Coast halls and school gyms clear it easily. Give us the venue name when you book and we’ll check it — we’ve likely been there.
Why We Run a Galaxy Bull
Not all mechanical bulls are the same machine, and this is where it matters most. We run a bull built by Galaxy Multi Rides — the company that invented the mechanical bull multi-ride system, manufacturing right here in Florida out of Port Charlotte, and certified to ASTM, TUV, UL, and CE standards.
Two Galaxy features are the reason insurers treat these machines differently from the cheap imports flooding the rental market:
- The Sofolex soft foam safety head. The horns and head look like rigid fiberglass but are soft foam throughout. Galaxy reports this innovation has reduced insurance premiums on their machines by 65–75% worldwide — underwriters price risk on hard data, and that number is what they concluded.
- The Automatic Stop Sensor, fitted as standard. The instant a rider comes off, the bull stops. Not when the operator reacts — immediately, automatically.
The console gives our attendant six pre-set programs from Soft through Cowboy competition mode, a ten-speed manual joystick, dual stop buttons, and a switch to disable spin entirely for younger or nervous riders. That’s the range that lets one machine work for a six-year-old’s birthday in the morning and a graduation party that night.
When a school, church, or venue asks us for equipment documentation before an event, this is the paperwork that makes it a short conversation.

Is a Mechanical Bull Safe? Here’s Exactly How We Run Ours
A mechanical bull is designed to throw people off — that’s the whole point, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. What makes it safe is the equipment underneath the rider, the rules we hold to, and the trained operator whose only job for your entire rental is watching the person on the bull.
We run our bull to the manufacturer’s published operating standard. No shortcuts, no exceptions, no matter who’s asking.
Rider Requirements
- Minimum height: 48 inches. This is the manufacturer’s recommendation and we don’t bend it — a rider who can’t reach a proper seated position can’t hold on correctly.
- Maximum weight: 300 lbs.
- One rider at a time. Always. No doubles, no “just for a photo.”
- Nothing on your person: no shoes, glasses, hats, jewelry, phones, gum, food, or drink. Anything in a pocket comes out first.
- Everyone signs a waiver before riding. Riders under 18 need a parent or guardian signature.
- No flips, no horseplay, no riding the neck, and no using the horns or ears as handles. One hand on the rope, seated in the center of the saddle.
Every rider also wears an automatic stop sensor lanyard on their rope hand. The moment they let go, the sensor releases and the bull stops on its own.
Who Shouldn’t Ride
Per the manufacturer’s guidance, the bull isn’t for anyone who:
- Is pregnant
- Can’t mount the ride and hold on securely without help
- Has been drinking or is under the influence
- Has epilepsy, a muscular condition, or any neck or back problem
- Has any other condition that would make holding on safely difficult
On the alcohol rule specifically: at adult parties, this is the one people push back on, and it’s the one we’re most firm about. Our operator’s decision is final — we’ll shut a ride down mid-party if we need to, and we have. If that’s a dealbreaker for your event, we’re the wrong company, and we’d rather you know now than on the day.
How Our Attendant Actually Runs It
Every rider starts on the slowest program — no exceptions, including for the guy who insists he’s done this before. From there our operator builds speed through the console’s preset levels, and always tells the rider before increasing difficulty. If a rider says that’s fast enough, that’s where it stays.
The automatic stop sensor is a backup, not the safety plan. The operator is the primary stop — finger over the button, eyes on the rider, hitting stop the instant someone starts to come off rather than waiting for the machine to catch it. That’s why we don’t hand the console to a volunteer or a family member, ever.
We also keep spectators off and away from the inflatable edge — nobody sitting or leaning on the cushion, and a clear buffer around the perimeter so a thrown rider can’t collide with the crowd. The console sits right at the edge of the bed so the operator’s view of the rider is never blocked by a circle of onlookers with phones up.
Florida Weather Rules
On the Treasure Coast in summer, that means a passing afternoon storm can pause your rental for thirty minutes. It’s worth planning a morning or evening start time between June and September, and it’s worth asking us about our rain policy when you book so you know exactly where you stand.
Trained Operators, Licensed & Insured
Galaxy requires every operator to complete a written safety examination on their machine and issues a Certificate of Training to those who pass — documentation written specifically to be handed to an insurance company. Our operators hold it.
Before every single event we run the manufacturer’s safety check: electrical connections, all nuts and bolts, the inflatable bed for wear or holes, anchor points, the blower, the stop sensor lanyard, and every control on the console. It takes time. We build it into the schedule.

Graduation Parties
Grad season is our busiest run for the bull, and it’s easy to see why: forty teenagers in a backyard for four hours is a long afternoon without something to compete over. Treasure Coast High, Centennial, Fort Pierce Central, Vero Beach High, South Fork, St. Lucie West Centennial — we’re out at grad parties across all of them every May and June. The LED timer on the console turns it into a leaderboard on its own; you don’t have to organize anything.
Quinceañeras, Sweet 16s & Milestone Birthdays
Big guest lists with a wide age spread, and long stretches between the formal moments where people are just standing around. The bull fills exactly that gap — and every single rider pulls a crowd and a dozen phones out. It’s the most photographed thing we rent.
Church Festivals, Carnivals & School Fundraisers
If you’re selling tickets per ride, the bull is almost always the top earner at the event. We work with churches, PTOs, and schools across St. Lucie, Martin, and Indian River counties for fall festivals, field days, and fundraisers — and we can bundle it with dunk tanks, obstacle courses, and concessions so you’re dealing with one vendor and one invoice. Most couples run the bull during cocktail hour or set it up as the late-night attraction after dinner — though a quick word on that: our no-alcohol rule for riders applies at weddings too, so an earlier window in the evening usually works out better for everyone.

Most rental companies make you fill out a form to find out what a mechanical bull costs. We’d rather just tell you.
Three hours is the sweet spot for most events — long enough that everyone who wants a turn gets several, short enough that you’re not paying for an attraction after the crowd has moved on to cake. Need longer? Additional hours are $200 each, added when you book or on the day if the party’s still going.
What Changes the Price
- Additional hours — $200 per hour beyond the three included.
- Your date. Saturdays during graduation season and fall festival season book out first. A Friday or Sunday is usually easier to get.
- Where you are. Flat delivery fee by city, $15 to $150 — see the full list below.
- Power at your location. If there’s no usable power on site, add our Generator 8500 for $124.99.

Bundle It and Pay Less
If you’re already booking a bounce house, water slide, or tables and chairs, adding the bull costs meaningfully less than renting it on its own. We’re already loading a truck and sending a crew to your address — the savings on that are yours, not ours.
For church festivals, school fundraisers, and community events, ask about multi-item event pricing. If you’re selling tickets per ride, the bull is typically the highest earner at the event and pays for itself well before the day is over. See our party packages or call and we’ll build you a quote.
Booking, Deposit & Weather
A {{DEPOSIT}} deposit holds your date, with the balance due {{BALANCE_TERMS}}. We only run one bull, so dates go on a first-come basis — if you have a firm date, book it early rather than calling the week of.
Because the bull can’t operate in rain, weather matters more with this rental than with anything else we deliver. Our policy: {{RAIN_POLICY}}. If a Florida afternoon storm passes through mid-rental, we shut down, cover the equipment, and pick right back up when it clears — that pause doesn’t come out of your three hours.
